“Ordinary” Holds Top Spot for Second Week
Alex Warren’s Hit Continues Chart Dominance
Alex Warren’s breakout single, “Ordinary,” maintains its position at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a second consecutive week, solidifying its status as a summer anthem. The song’s success highlights the growing power of independent artists in today’s music landscape.
Collaborative Origins
“Ordinary” was co-written by Warren alongside Mags Duval, Cal Shapiro, and Adam Yaron, with Yaron solely handling production. The song’s journey to the top began with a simple guitar riff, as Duval shared on Instagram.
“I think back to the day we wrote this — having no idea how much this would change our lives,” he wrote. “Adam started playing this harp-like guitar part in the living room and I had been wanting to write a love song about a love so powerful it could ‘take you out of the ordinary,’ and that is exactly what this song and group of wonderful humans has done to my life. We opened the little idea the next day, Alex, Cal, Adam and I wrote the whole song [and] sang the choirs and Alex was determined to make this song known.”

The song’s popularity is reflected in its streaming numbers, with 21.5 million official streams recorded between May 30 and June 5—a 3% increase from the previous week. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), streaming accounted for 84% of total U.S. music revenue in 2023, demonstrating its central role in music consumption.
