The injury caused the guitar sound to have a deeper and heavier sound, wich differed substantially from what otherwise characterized the rock in the late 60s.
Their debut album was released in 1970, and was given the original title “Black Sabbath”. Apparently the band spent only 12 hours recording the now iconic album, writes the music magazine Revolver.
Later that year, they released what was to become their best -selling album, “Paranoid”, which became an immediate success with songs like “War Pigs“, “Paranoid” and “Iron man”.
They did not know it themselves, but in a few years they had created a brand new music genre before it had been given a name at all; Heavy-metal.
Several of the heavy metal genre’s biggest name will also play on Saturday: Metallica, Alice in Chains and Lamb of God, as well as Tom Morello (61), who have played in Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave.
Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez (59) told in an interview with The Independent About how he met Osbourne for the first time.
