Get ready for a metal onslaught! Max Cavalera and Soulfly are set to ignite the Black Friday club this Wednesday, bringing their signature blend of thrash and groove metal to fans.
Soulfly’s Transnational Roots

The Current Lineup
Currently, Soulfly officially consists of two members: the 55-year-old metal veteran Max Cavalera (vocals, guitar) and his 32-year-old son, Zaiyon Cavalera (drums). The other spots are filled by rotating musicians. As of now, the lineup includes guitarist Mike Deleon (sence 2023) and bassist Cheiss Brian (since 2025). It remains to be seen if this will be the lineup hitting the stage at Black friday.

The Rift and the Rise of Soulfly
As Sepultura’s fame grew, tensions arose within the band. The breaking point came when Max Cavalera clashed with the other members, including his brother Igor, over the role of Sepultura’s manager, Max‘s wife, Gloria. This lead to Max‘s departure and the formation of Soulfly.
The Cavalera Family tree
Today, max Cavalera continues to lead Soulfly with his son, while Sepultura continues with long-time members Paulo Jr. and Andreas Kiser. The brothers also reunited in Cavalera Conspiracy. According to a 2023 study, family bands have a 15% higher chance of longevity in the music industry (Statista).
