A brand-new motorsport circuit, Circuit Italia, is preparing to welcome drivers in Port Stephens, New South Wales, promising a challenging and exciting experience for enthusiasts. The track, built over a decade, is set to open its gates soon.
Circuit Italia: A New Track Experience
Circuit Italia, a 3.1km, 15-turn track, is situated near Newcastle in the Hunter Region. The venue’s general manager, Damien White, expressed his excitement about the project’s completion.

Motor racing in Australia enjoys widespread popularity, drawing large crowds to major events like the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, which attracted 419,000 attendees in 2024 (Australian Grand Prix).
Track Details and Features
The initial track days will be managed by The Drive Team, led by Supercars co-driver David Russell. The design, including ten right and five left turns, boasts a 33.9-meter elevation change. Russell praised the challenging layout.
“The layout is incredible; one of the most challenging and satisfying in the country,” Russell commented, highlighting his team’s eagerness to get involved.
Future Prospects
Circuit Italia will be licensed by Motorsport Australia, and its local development permits include motorsport events. It is only a short drive from Newcastle Airport, which will soon accommodate international flights.

As the circuit’s construction nears completion, Circuit Italia’s focus will shift to building permanent infrastructure. The facility hopes to attract many international visitors.
