We looked more closely at BZ4X Touring.

Mechelen/Tek.no: An enlarged version of the bestseller BZ4X is coming, notified Toyota before the weekend. On Monday we were given the opportunity to see and sit in the new BZ4X Touring for the first time, on the world premiere just off the Belgian capital.
This is the car Toyota Norway itself thinks will be the new bestseller in the portfolio when it appears in the spring of 2026, and just as for the Bz4x, Toyota expects a massive overweight of four -wheel drive in Norway.

Significantly larger luggage compartments
The Touring version is extended by 14 centimeters, in addition to two centimeters in height-which provides a slightly more station-like shape, as the Touring name suggests. The extra centimeters are most clearly noticed in the trunk, which has grown by around 150 liters, and now measures 600.
This is a large and practically designed room that will, for example, be able to solve the problem of larger dog cages in a better way than today’s BZ4X – although the trunk is still a few liters less than in the competitor Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer.

Most of the liters are available in the main room, with only a few dozen in a small well under the floor. Here there is room for charging cables and other small equipment – which is also nice since the car has no frunk.
The rear seats are also laid down 60/40, but you get no ski week – and it must be said that, for example, a Tesla Model Y probably has room for significantly more luggage when you combine the main baggage room, the large well under the luggage compartment floor and the large frunken.
A little disappointing back seat
The back seat of the BZ4X Touring is perhaps a little disappointing when you know that the car is over 4.8 meters long, and clearly shows that the Japanese and, for example, the Chinese prioritize differently.
There is by all means old, but if the person in the front seat likes to sit low, there is nothing left to push the legs under the seat – and combined with a little short and low seat cushion it becomes a little scarce for longer trips. However, there is plenty of space in height.

The interior also emphasizes that Toyota is not exactly seeking to hit very hip and young. This is relatively dark and solid, with a lot of hard plastic and glimpses of piano paint.
Fortunately, the stripes of surrounding lighting light up the impression, and it would also have done a glass roof, the Toyota pre -production car showed up with such. Here you probably have to get up to the top equipment level Executive Bitone to get glass roofs.

380 horses and double hanger weight
Otherwise, the BZ4X Touring gets pretty much the same upgrades that this year’s version of “regular” BZ4X gets – a slightly larger battery, more horsepower and doubled the hanger weight (to 1500 kg), to name a few.
The Touring version will be available with both front and four-wheel drive, with 224 or 380 horsepower respectively. The latter will thus be the most powerful Toyota electric car so far, with 343 horses as max on C-HR+ and regular BZ4X.

The maximum quick charging effect is 150 kilowatts, which will give 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes under optimal conditions. The car has also been preheated, both automatically via the navigation system and manually.
The range will only indicate Toyota for the front wheel drive and most effective version. It should be able to squeeze out 560 kilometers from the battery of 74.7 kilowatt hours gross – a battery that is otherwise slightly larger than in the new BZ4X (73.1 kWt), but slightly less than in C -HR+ (77 kWt). It should be about both weight, balance and design on the batteries from different suppliers.
Toyota does not yet disclose net battery capacity, but it is probably around 69-70 kilowatt hours. In that sense, 560 kilometers sounds a little optimistic, but of course it remains to be seen until we drive the car.

Tested in Norway
When the BZ4X was first launched, some controversy was just around the real range of Norwegian winter temperatures compared to the range Toyota marketed. This is stated by the head of product and marketing in Toyota Europe, Harold Paton, that they learned a lot from.
He also says that they now always go to Norway to test performance and reach in Nordic winter conditions before launching an electric car.

Paton says Toyota saw a “clear need” for an electric SUV with more space, and says they expect that the BZ4X Touring will be especially popular in the Nordic countries. The ground clearance is around 21 centimeters, and roof rails that can carry 70 kg are standard.

Prices are coming this fall
The price is not ready, but Toyota Norway says it will be natural that it costs more than today’s BZ4X. However, how much we do not know yet; Information Manager Espen Olsen says the price hardly will be ready until the fall.
The three perhaps the highest competitors will be called Tesla Model Y (4,79 meter), World Sealion 7 (4.83 meters) and Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer (4.96 meters). With four -wheel drive, these today cost from 535,000, 470,000 and 579,000 respectively.
